Preparations Underway for Mnatsakanyan's Visit to Washington
Preparations are underway for Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan's visit to Washington. This was announced to The Hill by Varuzhan Nersesyan, Armenia's Ambassador to the United States.
“It is expected that the visit and the meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will take place this month,” the media outlet reports, noting that although the meeting is planned in the spirit of the annual strategic dialogue between the U.S. and Armenia, it has gained new urgency in the context of the escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which has resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians, injuries to hundreds, and the displacement of tens of thousands of people.
Ambassador Nersesyan stated that efforts are being made to prepare for the visit, but details will be officially announced through statements from the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Department of State.
