Luxembourg Parliament Unanimously Adopts Resolution Condemning Azerbaijan's Aggressive Military Actions
The Luxembourg Parliament has unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the military actions unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh. According to Armenpress, the resolution states:
“The Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies recognizes that the deadly struggle between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the sovereignty of Nagorno-Karabakh, inhabited by Armenians, continues. Noting that Azerbaijan launched an attack on September 27, 2020, aiming to take control of Nagorno-Karabakh, and acknowledging that the ongoing battles are the most brutal since the ceasefire concluded in 1994, the resolution highlights the increasing complexities stemming from the involvement of third countries, particularly Turkey.
It acknowledges that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan provides political and military support to Azerbaijan, including supplying Syrian mercenaries and military equipment. It notes that Turkey has issued an ultimatum, stating that a ceasefire will only be established when the forces supported by Yerevan (Armenia) withdraw from the disputed territory. Furthermore, it recognizes that this military and political conflict, with the involvement of third parties, could lead to a larger-scale confrontation.
The resolution calls on the government to unequivocally condemn all military actions that contradict the provisions of the 1994 ceasefire, denounce any external intervention aimed at supporting one of the conflicting parties, particularly Azerbaijan’s Turkish military support, and to support initiatives for establishing a ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh while urging respect for the principles of the ceasefire signed in May 1994.”
