Change the Price of Plastic Bags to 100 Drams, Redirect Proceeds to the Soldiers' Fund – Gouhar Abadjian
The President of the National Assembly, Ararat Mirzoyan's wife, Gouhar Abadjian, wrote on her Facebook page:
“As I was walking today, reflecting on how we must transform after the war to contribute to the swift recovery of Armenia and Artsakh, I encountered a young person who, without a second thought, threw his trash on the ground. I realized: the change in behavior and accountability—acting in a way that supports the state rather than harming it—must begin today, with every small action being significant.
Therefore, I urge all major supermarkets and stores operating in Armenia, such as SAS Supermarkets, Yerevan City Supermarkets, PARMA Supermarkets, Nor Zovq, and others: Starting tomorrow or as soon as possible, change the price of plastic bags to 100 drams, directing all proceeds to the soldiers' fund. In doing so, we will not only direct funds to the state, but also gradually reduce dangerous litter.
I call on the citizens of the Republic of Armenia to purchase cloth bags. By the way, much of the revenue generated from their sales is already being directed to Artsakh. Please spread this as a public demand.”
