Israel Sends Weapons-Loaded Planes to Azerbaijan: Al Arabiya

Israel is sending weapons to Baku against the backdrop of recent tensions between Azerbaijan and Armenia, reports Al Arabiya, citing official and intelligence sources.

“Israel is one of the main arms suppliers to Azerbaijan, despite Armenia having officially opened an embassy in Tel Aviv last month. Israel and Azerbaijan engage in significant trade in oil and arms. During the past weekend, US intelligence sources informed Al Arabiya that Israel is sending weapons-loaded planes to Azerbaijan,” the publication states.

“Israel is supplying arms to Azerbaijan. Today, two planes transporting cargo from Israel have already landed in Baku,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's presidential adviser for foreign policy, Hikmet Hajiyev, told Axios that Baku's defense cooperation with Israel is no secret.
