«Hraparak»: Your country has an unprecedented number of criminal cases that reach no conclusion. Russian ambassador to Armenia responds to Alen Simonyan
It turns out that the topic of the previous government remains relevant not only in Armenia's domestic politics but also in foreign relations. We were informed that during one of the meetings with the Russian ambassador in Armenia, a noteworthy conversation unfolded between Deputy Speaker Alen Simonyan and the ambassador.
Specifically, when the ambassador noted, “Your country has an unprecedented number of criminal cases that reach no conclusion. In two years, there hasn’t been a single conclusive judgment, you’re busy pursuing former officials,” Alen Simonyan did not hold back and countered, “But how is it that all the ‘wanted’ former officials are taking refuge in Russia?” The ambassador responded with just one word: “Surprising.”
We were told that Alen Simonyan is one of the rare officials with whom the Russians, and particularly the embassy, maintain some level of interaction. In contrast, for example, another member of the same faction, Andranik Kocharyan, reportedly has no access to the embassy due to his anti-Russian rhetoric,” the newspaper writes.
