How the Investigation into the March 1 Case Was Undermined: Shocking Revelations

The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports: 'The criminal case initiated over the bloody events of March 1 has become a puzzle. It seemed that the events occurring in broad daylight should have long been uncovered, with the murderers of the 10 victims already imprisoned. However, the investigation continues to drag on, raising numerous questions.

So, what is the current situation? A group of former officials, including Armenia's second president Robert Kocharian, are being charged with undermining the constitutional order during the March 1 events. Yet, there is a lack of public trust in the case's proceedings, and Kocharian remains free.

The relatives of the 10 innocent victims of March 1 are also dissatisfied, expressing their frustration over the quality and pace of the investigation into the murders. What are the deeper reasons behind this situation? Even in the well-known wiretaps, it is indicated that Vahé Grigoryan, now a judge of the Constitutional Court, plays a key role in the investigation of the March 1 case. He is a representative from the circle of the first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan and a follower of the Armenian National Congress, as well as a close associate of the head of the Special Investigative Service, Sasun Khachatryan.

According to available information, Sasun Khachatryan has planned with Vahé Grigoryan when and whom to invite for questioning and what questions to ask to unveil the 'March 1' case. In other words, Sasun Khachatryan is promoting the scenario outlined by his friend, and it is based on Grigoryan's instructions that charges have been pressed against individuals such as former chief prosecutor Gevorg Kostanyan and the late Gevorg Mheryan for allegedly instructing former police chiefs Hayk Harutyunyan and Alik Sargsyan to commit official forgery.

It is perhaps unimaginable that the Deputy Minister of Justice could instruct a police chief about something, or that an assistant to the president could provide directions to a police chief without the orders of Serzh Sargsyan. However, the former prosecutor is accused not for following Sargsyan's orders, but for official forgery.

In reality, both the former head of the March 1 investigation group, Vahagn Harutyunyan, and former prosecutor Gevorg Kostanyan have stated, 'We are coming, meet our conditions.' However, the Special Investigative Service has not been accommodating, even with the prospect of their subsequent arrest.

Furthermore, this proposal was unreservedly accepted in our country exclusively by the 'Levonists,' again under Vahé Grigoryan's instructions. Why? Because when these former officials come, and the 'March 1' case remains unresolved, which is inevitable, the scenario crafted by Vahé Grigoryan and Sasun Khachatryan would be undermined. The current situation is advantageous for the Special Investigative Service, as there are guilty parties, and the Prime Minister is regularly informed that the 'March 1' case remains unresolved because Gevorg Kostanyan, Vahagn Harutyunyan, and others are in hiding.

Thus, the case is being led into a deadlock, disappointing society.'
