The police have issued clarifications regarding fines for not wearing masks. The clarification states: "Human rights defender Arsen Babayan has made a post on social media claiming that the officers of the patrol service have been instructed to fine a certain number of citizens daily for not wearing masks. This claim is a result of distortion, of which A. Babayan has been informed, and we attach a sample of the report.

However, the issue is not just about date confusion and misunderstandings, but the atmosphere of public distrust being incited around the necessity of wearing masks. The experiences of various countries, including our republic, testify that the most effective means of preventing the spread of the coronavirus remains the mask. The police are strictly controlling the enforcement of this requirement.

Unfortunately, there are groups and individuals who periodically incite skepticism in society regarding this obvious reality, throwing inaccurate facts and unfounded claims into the public. The aim is to legitimize the irresponsible attitude of some towards this issue. In fact, the situation is too complex for us to sacrifice the health of our citizens for any claims.

Facing a new wave of coronavirus, the use of masks has again become mandatory worldwide. In this regard, the legislation and control mechanisms of the majority of countries are being tightened, implemented by law enforcement agencies. Our republic is also going down this path, and the police will continue to fulfill their legally defined powers in this area, regardless of unfair labels and assessments.

We expect understanding, support, and cooperation from the public with the police, as there is no other effective way to ensure pandemic safety and protect the health of citizens in our country."
