Accusations That Russia is Arming Armenia Are Not Justified and Sincere: Foreign Minister
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, addressed Turkey's statements regarding the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the US Congress, the French Senate, and other countries in an interview with the "Al-Akhbar" newspaper.
“The only fact that we observe and must acknowledge is that particularly recently, the policy of denial of the Armenian Genocide by Turkey has failed. The new wave of recognition of the Genocide is marked both by its continuity and by a change in the perception of the issue. The struggle for truth, historical justice, and human rights has been ongoing for several decades and has expanded across all continents. Moreover, there is a new important dimension in the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, which is Turkey's policy threatening the security of its neighboring regions and peoples. No one wishes for history to repeat itself, and we must not only acknowledge the past but also prevent attempts at new atrocities today and in the future. States that support terrorist groups that justify genocide and carry out violence based on identity are a threat and must be clearly identified as such,” he stated.
In response to a journalist's request, the minister also addressed Azerbaijan’s accusations that Russia is arming Armenia. “Armenia and Russia are allies, and our relations are developing according to the logic of allied relations. Russia is also the main supplier of military equipment and arms to Azerbaijan, therefore, these accusations are not justified and sincere,” the minister replied.
