Perhaps Tsarukyan Will Join My Initiative—Let's See If the 132 MPs Will Pass This Test, Says "My Step" MP
"My Step" faction MP Kristine Poghosyan today recalled how her proposal did not make it to circulation last year.
"Last year, I was trying to circulate a bill suggesting that National Assembly deputies undergo psychological testing. At that time, the MPs from the Prosperous Armenia Party reacted very poorly, and I was astonished; they claimed that there was a violation of free choice in that. However, since the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party has made such a statement today, perhaps something has changed over the year," she remarked during a speech at the National Assembly, referring to the Facebook post of the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Gagik Tsarukyan, who said, 'It is time to clearly establish in the Constitution that individuals with serious mental health issues cannot hold high political positions, thereby endangering the security of the country and its citizens.'
"At that time, I said that if the MPs of the National Assembly are choosing the prosecutor, who passes those criteria, it is reasonable that they themselves should pass that test. Perhaps Gagik Tsarukyan will join my initiative, and we will implement it—to understand whether the 132 deputies present here will pass that test or not," Kristine Poghosyan continued.
It should be noted that the post of the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party referred to an earlier statement by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
