Vote on the Demand for Arayik Harutyunyan's Resignation is Tomorrow. It Will Be Thwarted by the Ruling Majority
It is evident that the revolutionary government is defending Arayik Harutyunyan, but the LHK cannot avoid raising issues in the National Assembly and we believe that Arayik Harutyunyan is the minister who has caused the most problems in his field and should resign. This was stated by LHK faction leader Edmond Marukyan during a conversation with journalists about the demand for the resignation of Education Minister Arayik Harutyunyan and their presented inquiry.
"The vote on the demand for Arayik Harutyunyan's resignation is tomorrow; it is clear from the speeches that it will be thwarted by the ruling majority. I believe that Arayik Harutyunyan has no further role and he is on the path to worsening education in Armenia," he said.
According to him, the government lacks the political will to admit it has made a wrong personnel choice, and Arayik Harutyunyan's only justification is that "I am a guy who made a revolution." Marukyan noted that no complaints would remain unaddressed, yet it is clear that the ruling wing will dismiss the issue raised tomorrow.
"I repeat, Arayik can resign on his own without waiting for parliamentary recommendations and the Prime Minister's dismissal. The education sector is completely mired in difficulties," he said and added that the minister could have met with the protesting students but failed to do so, instead emphasizing that they were being directed by opposition forces.
