The Crisis Surrounding the Constitutional Court Has Ended, Says Nikol Pashinyan

During a question-and-answer session with the government in the National Assembly today, September 16, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the process of selecting judges for the Constitutional Court, indicating that there were individuals and groups wanting to invoke the values of the revolution.

“They were constantly trying to compare the situation with the values of the revolution. It felt like the political team that managed the revolution had no understanding of the values of the revolution at all, and those who learned about the revolution a week after May 8 have turned into fervent defenders of its values. I want to emphasize that this is not the case. In every situation, there are groups and forces that want to place their agendas, their interests, and their candidates in certain positions on behalf of the public,” said Pashinyan.

He declared that the crisis surrounding the Constitutional Court has come to an end. “Does this mean that an ideal Constitutional Court has been formed? No, it does not mean that,” the Prime Minister added. Regarding the candidate presented by the government, Edgar Shatiryann, Pashinyan noted that discussions had taken place, and it was decided that his candidacy should be put forward.
