Citizen Voting Rights Will Not Be Limited During Parliamentary Elections in Georgia - CEC

The parliamentary elections in Georgia will be held on October 31. According to the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Tamar Zhvania, the CEC is working on regulations that will not restrict voters' right to vote while ensuring their safety.

“It is still unclear what exactly will happen on election day. We are waiting for the epidemiological situation. Facts are changing, but there are issues that are part of international practice... Of course, when it is impossible to maintain physical distance, wearing a mask is an alternative and mandatory condition that must be observed. Thermal screening, which is a requirement in effect these days, will not be in place on election day, as voters will be in contact at the polling station for a very short period—less than 15 minutes, which is not considered a risky contact by international standards,” Tamar Zhvania stated during an interview with Palitranews.
