41 Doctors of Hematology Center Prepare to Resign, Appeal to Prime Minister
41 doctors from the Hematology Center named after Prof. R. Yolyan in Armenia are preparing to resign from their positions starting October 1. A group of specialists has addressed an open letter to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, requesting the Health Ministry to reconsider its decision.
“The Health Ministry has decided to terminate the contract of the Hematology Center’s director, Samvel Danielyan, which was followed by the resignation request from Gevorg Tamamyan, the head of the Armenian Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. During Danielyan's two years of leadership, the center has recorded remarkable progress,” states the open letter.
The doctors have asked for a review of the ministry's decision, arguing that it is unfounded and illogical. They warned that if the termination of Samvel Danielyan's activity proceeds, they will cease their operations on October 1.
In their open letter addressed to Pashinyan, the doctors have indicated that they are notifying about their resignation decisions in advance to facilitate proper arrangements for treatment and to avoid risking children's lives.
It should be noted that yesterday, on September 15, it became known that Gevorg Tamamyan submitted his resignation as the director of the Armenian Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. He stated that the reason for this step is the Health Ministry's decision to terminate Dr. Samvel Danielyan’s contract as the director of the Hematology Center named after Prof. R.H. Yolyan starting October 1.
