Gevorg Tamamyan Announces Resignation from Position at Children's Cancer and Blood Diseases Center

The head of Armenia's Children's Cancer and Blood Diseases Center, Gevorg Tamamyan, announced on his Facebook page: "I want to inform you that I have just submitted my resignation from the position of head of the Children's Cancer and Blood Diseases Center and from my future work as a pediatric oncologist-hematologist at the Hematology Center.

The reason for my decision is that the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia has decided to terminate the contract of Dr. Samvel Danielyan as the Director of the Hematology Center named after Prof. R.H. Yolyan as of October 1 this year.

I am proud and happy to consider myself a student of Dr. Danielyan, whose example inspired me years ago to choose the specialty of pediatric oncologist-hematologist. When Dr. Danielyan returned to Armenia in 2018 and was appointed as the director of the Hematology Center, I regarded that appointment as one of the greatest achievements of the revolution, which also allowed for the unification and consolidation of the entire field.

During the last two years, tremendous work has been done in the fields of hematology and pediatric oncology, and I can confidently say that this development is now irreversible.

I am grateful to everyone who contributed to this development, and I ask the entire team of the Children's Cancer and Blood Diseases Center to continue all the development programs that will help restore another child's health.
