11 Persons Detained in Clash Between Armenians and Azerbaijanis in Javakheti, 3 of Whom are Armenians
In connection with the clashes that occurred between Armenians and Azerbaijanis in Javakheti on August 23, a criminal case has been initiated, resulting in the detention of 11 individuals. This was stated in an interview with NEWS.am by Eduard Ayvazyan, the director of the Samtskhe-Javakheti Media Analytical Center.
"They have been placed under a two-month detention as a preventive measure. Of those detained, three are Armenians and eight are Azerbaijanis. They have been charged with organizing mass brawls. Currently, the investigation is in the preliminary stage," he said.
Ayvazyan recounted that following the court's decision, family members of the Armenians staged a protest in front of the Akhalkalaki police station. He noted that there have been no further developments regarding the incident as the situation remains calm.
