We Must Continue to Implement Quality and Large-Scale Capital Expenditures, Prime Minister

Today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed the interim performance of capital expenditure programs carried out with the 2020 budget as well as through credit and grant funding.

The Prime Minister was briefed on the activities conducted by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, and the Yerevan City Hall. The progress of capital expenditure programs in sectors such as road construction, energy, water, territorial and urban infrastructure, solid waste management, healthcare, and education was presented, and interim results and further steps were discussed.

It was noted that road construction is progressing at a particularly rapid pace, with scheduled competitions having taken place and construction works proceeding smoothly. Issues related to technical supervision of road construction were addressed. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of implementing the process with quality and in accordance with planned volumes, and instructed to present a proposal regarding the feasibility of consolidating road lots.

The meeting also discussed new initiatives for 2020 in the mentioned areas. In the framework of expenditure programs in education, the Prime Minister proposed to explore opportunities for building “Modular” type kindergartens in certain communities, citing the example of the kindergarten in the Aravik community of the Armavir region. The Aravik “Modular” type nursery-kindergarten is being constructed with state budget funds, and after a 30-year hiatus, this community will have a 140-seat kindergarten by the end of the year.

The government leader instructed those responsible to inventory the communities where the construction of “Modular” type kindergartens may be feasible based on community needs and capabilities. Nikol Pashinyan also instructed to finalize the list of new educational and healthcare capital initiatives and provide information on their progress.

“Implementing capital expenditures means creating jobs, securing salaries, and generating profits for businesses. This, of course, contributes to improving the socio-economic situation in the country, and in this regard, we must continue to implement quality and large-scale capital expenditure programs,” the Prime Minister summarized.
