LHK Will Also Not Participate in the Selection of Constitutional Court Judges
I don't think it will be a surprise to you if I say that we will not participate in the vote either, because the illegal process that has taken place in this hall in the context of constitutional amendments continues. This was stated today by Taron Simonian, a member of the 'Enlightened Armenia' party, during a session of the National Assembly.
It should be noted that today the National Assembly is discussing the issue of electing members of the Constitutional Court.
'As much as I would like to vote, especially for my professor and other candidates, I do not have that opportunity, because, as truth is more important, so is the Constitution, which holds greater value for the citizens of Armenia than other values in the legal field,' said the MP.
He declared that the current ruling team is very professional at creating problems in nonexistent situations and overcoming those problems, or complicating existing issues to the point that there is no possible solution left.
'We already have a large number of problems in the judicial system—Constitutional Court, Court of Appeals, Court of Cassation, First Instance Court. There is not a single judicial body that does not have hundreds of issues. But instead of dealing with these issues, we complicate them and organize an unconstitutional process based on this, and under the guise of reforms, we continue. Unfortunately, I have to say that if you inject poison into the roots of a tree, it has no chance of bearing good fruit. That tree was already not in good condition,' Simonian said.
