Bribery Given to Residents of Ararat Region to Vote for Prosperous Armenia Party: State Revenue Committee

During the ongoing investigation at the Investigation Department of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) regarding a criminal case launched under Article 188, Part 3, Clause 1 and Article 205, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, substantial evidence has been gathered. It reveals that several employees of the 'Araratcement' LLC were compelled to join the 'Prosperous Armenia' Party, being threatened with job termination. They secured votes for the 'Prosperous Armenia' Party during the National Assembly elections held on May 6, 2012, and the elections on April 2, 2017, by providing information about individuals willing to vote in favor of the party at their behest.

Additionally, during the same period, some employees of 'Araratcement' LLC bribed several residents of the Ararat region, offering them advantages to vote for the 'Prosperous Armenia' Party.

Considering that the factual evidence obtained during the investigation indicates characteristics of crimes outlined in Article 154.2, Parts 1, 2, and 3 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, a new criminal case was opened on September 10, 2020, regarding bribing voters, receiving bribes, violations of the prohibition of charity during elections, and obstructing the free expression of voters. This case has been forwarded to the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia for resolution regarding investigative jurisdiction.
