Soldier Killed in Combat Position Due to Adversary Provocation, Ministry of Defense
In recent days, the Azerbaijani side has exhibited increased activity in the northeastern part of the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, attempting to undertake fortification work, which has contributed to an escalation of tension on the frontline, reports the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
To suppress the adversary's activity and prevent further escalations, the frontline units of the Armed Forces of Armenia have had to take appropriate actions.
As a result of another provocation by the adversary, on September 16, a contractual serviceman, Junior Sergeant Hovik Nelson Tamazyan, was severely wounded by gunfire and shrapnel at a combat position of one of the units located in the northeastern area.
An investigation is underway to clarify the details of the incident. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia shares the heavy grief of this loss and expresses its support to the family members, relatives, and colleagues of the fallen serviceman.
The entire responsibility for the created situation and the increase in border tension lies with the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan.
