Around 8,700 New Trash Bins Installed in Yerevan

After a prolonged hiatus due to the pandemic, a regular working meeting was held today at the city hall, presided over by Mayor Hayk Marutyan. Before addressing various sectors of municipal management, the mayor congratulated first-graders, wishing them success in their studies. This was reported by the Yerevan Municipality.

“It is our job to ensure that our little ones remember this time as an interesting moment in life, not a period of difficulties, obligations, or deprivations. It is very important that we pay great attention to first-graders, those small children who are going to school for the first time. They should love school, love learning, because our future depends solely on them,” stated the mayor.

During the state of emergency, the staff of the Yerevan Municipality and community structures have been working on a daily schedule. Mayor Marutyan expressed gratitude to the staff for their dedication and responsibility.

“There was not a moment when any sector was neglected, despite occasional outbreaks we faced. I thank you for working devotedly during these difficult conditions so that our residents do not feel any issues arising within the system. This was a period in which we had to perceive difficulties, understand issues, figure out how to overcome those issues, and now we must start working to ensure that yes, under these conditions, we carry out our work smoothly,” emphasized the mayor.

Programs scheduled in various sectors of municipal management are proceeding according to timeline. The mayor was informed that construction is underway for new road segments on Babajanyan-Ashdarak and Argavand-Shirak. The process of purchasing trash bins is nearing completion, and around 8,700 new trash bins have already been installed throughout the capital. With the cooperation of the community authority, associations, and residents, efforts are being made to close the trash chutes of apartment buildings in Yerevan's administrative districts. In their place, a sufficient number of new trash bins are being installed in close proximity to the buildings.

The program for replacing elevators is also ongoing according to the established timeline. In 2020, around 500 elevators in the capital will be replaced with new ones.

“I demand that everyone not only acknowledges the problems but also proposes concrete solutions. We have no right to show incorrect results. Every data point, every case, every event must be reported clearly. I will not tolerate vague reports, because it does not harm me, but rather the community, and I have no right to harm the community,” underscored the mayor.
