Masks Required in Parks and Gardens, Not at Beaches, Mountains, Forests, or in Personal Vehicles

The Ministry of Health has approved a list of personal protective measures, their application cases and procedures, as well as the rules of sanitary and epidemiological safety. This information is provided by the Armenian Ministry of Health.

The rules regarding individual protective measures (hereinafter referred to as IPMs) apply to state governance, territorial and local self-government bodies, as well as to legal and physical entities. They pertain to specialists involved in the organization, implementation, and evaluation processes of measures against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

It is mandatory for everyone to wear masks in closed spaces, with the exception of children under 5, while driving in personal vehicles, smoking, drinking, eating, and in other cases specified by sanitary rules approved by the Minister of Health.

Conditions for not wearing a mask in public outdoor areas when outside of residential areas are as follows:

  1. Age: inclusive of 0-5 years old
  2. Those delivering speeches or messages at ceremonial events led by the President of the Republic of Armenia, the Catholicos of All Armenians, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the National Assembly, the President of the Constitutional Court, or the Chairperson of the Supreme Judicial Council, as well as direct participants of the event (excluding attendees, guests, journalists, and service staff)
  3. The presence of chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, or bronchitis resulting in severe respiratory failure, and chronic heart failure of functional classes 3 or 4—provided that these individuals have the appropriate medical documentation confirming the respective disease
  4. Engaging in physical exercises or cycling
  5. In specifically designated areas for open-air recreation, including recreational zones and beaches, mountains, forests, and similar outdoor areas, but not in parks, city gardens, botanical and zoological gardens, during visits to historical-cultural sites, pilgrimages, events organized as economic activities for individual and group hikes, excursions, walks, and other similar activities.
  6. Television presenters being alone in a television studio while broadcasting television shows and programs
  7. Conducting sign language interpretation during television broadcasts
  8. The presence of deaf-mutes (individuals suffering from hearing impairments who perceive speech by following lip movements)
  9. Intellectual disabilities or mental disorders
  10. Cognitive impairments
  11. Facial injuries or oral maxillofacial interventions
  12. Smoking, drinking, and eating.

In medical organizations, medical personnel select and use medical masks based on infection transmission risk, the situation, and the circumstances of their activity.
