783 'Ajudzakh' Diplomatic Passports Issued After the Revolution
Currently, 1,127 individuals hold valid diplomatic passports. This information was reported to Lurer.com by the head of the Information and Public Diplomacy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.
In response to the question regarding how many citizens of the Republic of Armenia have received diplomatic passports since the revolution and how many individuals have been stripped of them, he stated, “From May 2018 until now, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued 783 diplomatic passports and has declared 425 diplomatic passports invalid.”
We had also requested a list of individuals who received diplomatic passports, but the ministry conveyed that the data of individuals is confidential and cannot be provided.
It should be noted that following the change of power in Armenia, the new authorities decided to revoke the diplomatic passports of several individuals. It appears that after the revocation of the diplomatic passports of 254 individuals in mid-2018, new individuals filled those positions. Presumably, after canceling the diplomatic passports of individuals associated with the former regime, this government awarded those positions to its allies.
