Arthur Davtyan Establishes Committee for Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Armenia is currently in the process of staffing a structural subdivision responsible for functions outlined in the "Law on Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property."

According to the orders issued today by Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan, Siro Amirkhanyan has been appointed as the head of the newly established Committee for Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property, with Tigran Yenokyan serving as the deputy head. Ani Sargsyan and Gevorg Kocharyan have been appointed as senior prosecutors of the committee, while Tigran Davtyan will serve as the prosecutor of the committee.

It is noteworthy that the order issued by the Prosecutor General on September 1 appointed Serbuh Galoyan as the deputy responsible for coordinating functions related to the confiscation of illegally acquired property.

According to the relevant law, articles 4 to 33 define all the key legal processes and functions for the confiscation of illegally acquired property, which will come into effect upon the appointment of at least three prosecutors in the responsible subdivision.

With the appointment of five prosecutors in the responsible committee, the subdivision is officially established, and the aforementioned law essentially comes into full effect.

In light of this, on September 3, Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan held a working consultation with the newly appointed prosecutors of the newly established committee and the deputy responsible for coordinating the confiscation functions.

Congratulating them on their appointments, Prosecutor General Davtyan emphasized that the new subdivision will undertake tasks of unprecedented nature and scale for the Republic of Armenia, which entail significantly greater responsibility, high professionalism, integrity, dedication to their mission, and cohesive teamwork.

Davtyan added that the public demands from this new subdivision, as well as from the Prosecutor's Office as a whole, are exceedingly high, compelling, and all resources must be utilized in accordance with the law and solely under the presence of necessary grounds to return illegally acquired property to the state, thereby restoring social justice and ensuring the effectiveness of the ongoing anti-corruption efforts.

Therefore, based on the principles of protecting both private and public interests fairly and lawfully, the Committee for Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property, as well as all prosecutors representing it, are required to demonstrate absolute impartiality, principledness, and unwavering commitment to the letter of the law.

During the consultation, issues were discussed related to establishing clear criteria for the study of confiscation of illegally acquired property, as well as systematically providing the necessary information from other subdivisions of the Prosecutor's Office regarding criminal cases and procedures with legal grounds for initiating investigations into the confiscation of illegally acquired property.
