Change in Security Service in the Amulsar Area as of September 1: Lydian Armenia

Lydian Armenia informs that as of September 1, a change in the security service has taken place in the Amulsar area due to the expiration of the previous security service contract. Yesterday, a group of 10-15 individuals engaged in illegal activities around Amulsar attempted to obstruct the entry of new security personnel into the area. The group tried to provoke the security organization by deliberately damaging the company's property, including placing homemade nails under the tires of vehicles (attached photos).

We believe that such acts of vandalism and illegal activities are clear evidence that this group lacks community support. As we reported yesterday, the group involved in illegal activities has issued threats of 'bloodshed' towards the hundreds of community residents who wish to work on the project. In our assessment, such behavior results from over two years of tolerance by the authorities towards lawlessness and impunity. Once again, the police failed to properly perform their duties by not eradicating these illegal acts.

However, the security service did not succumb to provocations and entered the Amulsar area, avoiding confrontations. Lydian will employ all legal means and relevant services to ensure the safety of the community residents working in the area and its employees. We urge the police to take measures to hold accountable those individuals who incite physical violence and display hooliganism in accordance with the law.

At the same time, Lydian Armenia informs that contrary to expectations, it will not negotiate any illegal activities, will not offer any 'solutions' outside the law, and will not yield to ongoing provocations from the impunity group that keeps communities in an atmosphere of fear. The only matter the company is ready to discuss with everyone is the restoration of law around Amulsar, ensuring community safety, and collaboration directed towards the peaceful prosperity and wellbeing of the communities.
