Four New Cases of Alcohol Poisoning Recorded, One Resulting in Death: Health Ministry Spokesperson

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, Alina Nikoghosyan, announced on her Facebook page the occurrence of four new cases of alcohol poisoning.

As of 11:00 AM on September 2, an additional four cases of alcohol poisoning have been registered in the Armavir region and Yerevan, including one fatality. Another victim, who was admitted to the number 1 university hospital on September 1, has passed away.

The total number of cases from August 31 to September 2 has reached 27, of which 14 resulted in death. Out of these 27 cases, 20 (including 9 fatalities) have been recorded in the Armavir region. Among the remaining 11 cases in Armavir, 9 are receiving treatment at Armenia Medical Center, while 2 were discharged after medical examination. All individuals consumed homemade vodka purchased from the same location.

Of the 27 cases reported in the country, 7 were recorded in Yerevan. Epidemiological research has revealed that these cases are unrelated to those in the Armavir region. Five of the cases in Yerevan resulted in death, one person is receiving treatment at the number 1 university hospital, and one at Armenia Medical Center. Some victims used medical alcohol as a substitute for vodka, while investigations continue to determine the type of alcohol used by others.
