The Fight Against Criminal Subcultures Continues, According to Badasyan
“If we are to trust not the information from the Ministry of Justice or the penitentiary service, but rather news circulated by criminal subcultures, according to which torture occurs in prisons, I think this is a misguided approach. The fight against criminal subcultures is ongoing and will continue. You are aware of the recent criminal cases initiated, and naturally, in some instances, the searches carried out in those cases or in the cells can encounter certain resistance. There is a legally established mechanism to overcome that resistance. Speaking of torture is unnecessary. Tortures have been related to the criminal subculture and its impact, including its influence on the penitentiary service. We are currently engaged in eliminating the root causes that lead to those consequences,” said the minister.
Rustam Badasyan emphasized that he has no concerns regarding the applicability of the law in the fight against criminal subcultures. “It is evident that we are recording successes in the fight against criminal subcultures,” the minister stated.
