Reserve Forces Should Not Be Separated from the Armed Forces: Tigran Abrahamyan

The head of the "Henaket" analytical center and former security advisor to the President of Artsakh, Tigran Abrahamyan, presented his observations regarding the establishment of reserve forces in the context of the new military-political situation in the region and potential issues faced by the regular army on his Facebook page. Below are his key points:

“The increase in the combat readiness of the reserve forces is directly linked to the combat preparedness of the armed forces. According to the combat readiness plan of the armed forces, reserves are included in various gatherings and tactical drills to varying extents.

Secondly, the reserve forces should not be separated from the armed forces in any way, and their development should be viewed in the context of the modernization and enhancement of the combat capabilities of the armed forces.

In any case, even if we do not consider the active Turkish factor, the partial or complete involvement of the reserve forces becomes necessary in the case of large-scale military operations or even border activity (if they are of a medium or long-term nature).

This means that the discussion of new models of reserve forces should not be viewed solely through the lens of the situation created in the last 1-2 months.

Regardless of what approach is chosen to enhance the readiness of the reserve forces, ensure mobility, and provide operational responses to various situations, it must stem from the priorities of increasing our level of security.

Of course, much depends on what final model will be selected, which will allow for a more precise assessment of both the effectiveness of the proposed idea and its potential positive effects on the regular army.
