Officials of the RA State Revenue Committee Arrested
Officials of the RA State Revenue Committee have been arrested. This was reported by the Investigative Committee (IC), which noted that the investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
In the framework of the criminal case being investigated by the RA Special Investigation Service, officials V. A., H. M., and A. T. have been arrested on suspicion of committing acts provided for by Article 308, Paragraph 2, and Article 308, Paragraph 1 of the RA Criminal Code, as well as Articles 38-308, Paragraph 2, and 38-308, Paragraph 1 of the RA Criminal Code.
According to the factual data acquired in the criminal case, during January-February 2020, V. A., who held the position of head of the Bagratashen Customs Point Division of the Eastern Customs Administration of the State Revenue Committee, and H. M., who served as a customs inspector of the same division, with the assistance of the division's weight operator, misused their official positions against the interests of service. On January 17, 2020, they allowed truck drivers carrying 1150 tons of oil to enter the territory of the Republic of Armenia through the Bagratashen customs point without having submitted the relevant customs declaration, resulting in the cargo owner failing to pay a total of 16,034,356 AMD in taxes, duties, and other mandatory payments to the state budget.
Furthermore, according to the data obtained during the investigation, the aforementioned officials of the customs service permitted the transport of 680 tons of oil into the territory of the Republic of Armenia without customs declaration on January 25 and 29, as well as on March 1, 2020, each time in the same manner, resulting in the cargo owner failing to pay a total of 28,397,753 AMD in taxes, duties, and other mandatory payments to the state budget.
