According to preliminary data, individuals hospitalized have been poisoned by homemade alcohol: SPMH

This morning at 8:00, the SPMH Armavir Regional Center received an alert regarding citizens who were admitted to the Armavir Medical Center with suspected food poisoning. As a result of the measures taken, it has been determined that, according to preliminary data, those individuals were poisoned by homemade alcohol. Some citizens could not be saved. This was reported by the SPMH.

As a result of actions taken by the Armavir division of the Armenian police and the Armavir regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee, the alleged alcohol producer has been identified and arrested. Currently, a batch of unprocessed alcoholic beverages has been seized, and steps are being taken to locate and confiscate batches acquired by citizens.

According to preliminary hypotheses and the symptoms of poisoning, it is believed that the poisoning was caused by methanol. Experts from Yerevan have joined the inspectors of the SPMH Armavir Regional Center, and samples from the seized batch of alcohol have been provided for laboratory testing. Additional information about the results will be provided later.

The SPMH once again urges citizens to refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages of unknown origin and reminds that the circulation of such drinks is prohibited.
