We Will Organize a Large Rally: Gagik Tsarukyan

Ahead of the upcoming parliamentary session, we are starting a series of meetings with representatives of the party's territorial structures. This was stated by the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), Gagik Tsarukyan, on his Facebook page, where he shared a video of his meeting with the party's activists in the Kotayk region.

Addressing those present, he said, “I had instructed to meet with the people in a short period of time, to listen to their pressing questions. I am ready to answer those questions fully, as per our program. The first session of the National Assembly will be in September, when we will raise these issues. There is no problem that does not have a solution; we just need to be aware of the problems and provide solutions according to the capabilities of our state. I do not make grandiose statements, but I hope that what we say and do will be useful, serve the people, and that they will feel it in their lives depending on the sectors.”

“Starting today, I am beginning meetings across the republic with the responsible members of the BHK,” Tsarukyan added.

He noted that, due to the state of emergency, many people are not working and cannot pay students’ tuition fees, and the government should take steps to subsidize. “The 300 billion drams allocated in the budget for capital construction, to date only 12 billion of that amount has been spent. Let those capital funds not be spent this year; instead, we should allocate those funds to our people, students, public servants, retirees, and representatives of culture. We must stand by our students, support them, so they do not break, stay in their country, and use their opportunities for the benefit of their country and people.”

Tsarukyan stated that surveys conducted by their youth structure revealed that 90 percent of the society is against educational reforms. “We are a Christian Armenian nation, and that is our greatness. For 90-95 percent of the people, this program is unacceptable. We will also collect signatures and organize a large rally. Those who do not want the church courses to be removed, sexual education courses to be implemented, Armenian literature to be excluded, and Armenian history to be removed, we cannot allow that. I have heard numerous instances of people returning from abroad, leaving their jobs to ensure their children receive education in Armenia with our values, customs, and traditions. We will preserve that; let them think we are backward. Armenia will not go that way; the people will not allow it.”

The BHK leader also promised to raise the issue of the entrance exams for universities regarding students who obtained high scores but were left out.
