Over 800 Lebanese Armenians Arrive in Armenia So Far; Two Full Flights Weekly, Says Sinanyan
Over 800 Lebanese Armenians have arrived in Armenia so far. Zareh Sinanyan, the head of the Diaspora Affairs Office, shared this information today, August 28, during a press briefing at the National Assembly.
“Some of them arrived before the well-known explosion when the first flight landed in Yerevan. This flow is continuous; we now have flights from Beirut to Armenia twice a week. Almost all flights come fully booked. The arrivals have various issues, and we are constantly in touch with them, accommodating their needs. The package we are working on is not yet in effect, so they cannot benefit from it yet; however, some of the arrivals do not actually need state services. For those who do, we are finding solutions for them,” he said.
“At this moment, there is a significant goodwill in our society towards our compatriots affected by the economic crisis and the explosion in Lebanon. Therefore, you would be surprised at how many people are offering their homes. There are individuals offering their summer houses. In other words, we can manage to cover everyone's needs in small volumes,” he added, stating that when the package comes into effect, there will be other solutions, and this package will be introduced on September 1.
