‘Haykakan Zhamanak’: Clouds Gather Over the Head of the Center District Mayor as Marutyan Holds Disdain for Him
The waters of Avet Poghosyan, the head of Yerevan's Center administrative district, are reportedly not flowing in the same stream as the scandal-prone Mayor Hayk Marutyan. According to sources, Marutyan has disdain for this representative from the Armenian National Congress, while Poghosyan, wherever he sits, expresses dissatisfaction with Marutyan, claiming that he doesn’t let him work. It is possible that in the near future, Avet Poghosyan could become a scapegoat and be dismissed from his position, marking the second dismissal of a Center district mayor within the last year.
The authorities have decided to channel the dissatisfaction of Yerevan residents towards the district mayor, once again sparing the mayor from being sacked. We attempted to inquire about the gathering clouds over Poghosyan's head. He stated that questions should only be submitted in writing. We suggested a meeting for a discussion, but that was also declined. He mentioned that perhaps he would respond in a few months, but will he still hold the position in a few months?
We were forced to send him a questionnaire and tried to ascertain yesterday whether he received our questions and when he would reply. The mayor responded with a Solomon-esque answer: 'When the time comes.' Therefore, we've decided to publish our information 'before the time comes' without his comments. It would generally be beneficial if a small training session were organized before appointing someone to a position to teach them how to work with journalists and some basic ethics,” the newspaper states.
