Captain Ruben Sanamyan Honored with Title of National Hero

On August 28, at the Sardarapat Memorial Complex, Captain Ruben Sanamyan, an active participant in the victorious battles of Tavush, was formally awarded the title of National Hero, along with the Homeland Order, through the mediation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and a presidential decree.

As part of the same decree initiated by the Prime Minister, 16 soldiers actively involved in the Tavush battles were awarded the First Degree Combat Cross, while 55 soldiers received the Second Degree Combat Cross.

The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Artsakh, the Catholicos of All Armenians, the Speaker of the National Assembly, members of the Security Council, government officials, generals, and other dignitaries.

Captain Sanamyan, who was awarded the title of National Hero, skillfully led a reconnaissance group during the July battles, using his personal example to motivate the soldiers. He assigned individual tasks and organized the defense against multiple enemy assaults on the “Fearless” combat position, inflicting significant losses on the enemy's manpower, weapons, and military equipment.

According to the Ministry of Defense, without sparing his own life, Sanamyan carried out complex and dangerous engineering tasks near the positions with his troops, gathering valuable documents, weapons, ammunition, various technical means, and other intelligence through reconnaissance.
