Araik Harutyunyan Dismantles Quietly, Creepingly, Without Unnecessary Noise: Former Deputy Minister of Diaspora

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Araik Harutyunyan, will not resign in any form. He does not listen to the voice of the people; he listens to the voice of those sitting above. This was stated today, August 28, during an interview with reporters at a demonstration in front of the Ministry demanding Harutyunyan's resignation, by Sergei Srabionyan, former deputy minister of Diaspora and a long-time lecturer at the Faculty of Armenian Studies.

“Two years is not such a short period that we wouldn’t know that no one from the Government is going to come and respond. This dark-minded hero who thinks he looks very original by uttering a thought borrowed from Paulo Coelho is profoundly mistaken. This indicates that he feels more confident in his office and behind his chair than he does when he goes out to talk to the people for whom he has planned reforms. If these reforms are for me, then he must talk to me, because I have experienced the journey that Araik Harutyunyan has gone through. If Araik Harutyunyan does not understand this, I declare for those who do not understand that there are three schools in Armenia where they can go for retraining,” he said.

Srabionyan also noted that he has two school-age grandchildren but does not intend to send them to school this year. “My grandchildren will not be going to school this year; I will not create monkeys out of them. No one understands better than Araik Harutyunyan how this century-old, continuously improved school system can be dismantled. He has mastered that technology and is dismantling it quietly, creepingly, without unnecessary noise.”

When asked whether the minister would attempt to speak with him regarding this issue, Srabionyan replied, “I have tried to talk to the minister in the past. I will not sit at the same table to talk to the minister now; that is offensive to me.”
