20 Accused In Criminal Case Against Tsarukyan
The newspaper "Jamanak" reports: According to information from the "Jamanak" daily, there are already 20 accused individuals involved in the criminal case initiated against the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Gagik Tsarukyan, although the investigative body has not disclosed much information on this matter.
As is known, on June 14, the National Security Service conducted a search at Gagik Tsarukyan's private residence. Subsequently, on June 15, the NSS issued a statement indicating that criminal cases had been initiated regarding three separate incidents.
After that, Gagik Tsarukyan was summoned for questioning by the NSS regarding the aforementioned cases. According to the NSS statement, one of the criminal cases pertains to incidents of vote buying and receiving bribes during the Armenian Parliamentary elections held on April 2, 2017, in which both the leadership of the party and its members were involved.
Following this, Tsarukyan's defense team deemed the search conducted by the National Security Service illegal and filed an appeal with the Armenian Court of Appeals to have it declared unlawful. The Court of Appeals rejected their appeal, recognizing the NSS's actions as legal, after which Tsarukyan's defense team appealed to the Court of Cassation.
