Russia and Turkey May Sign New S-400 Agreement Next Year
Russia and Turkey may sign a new agreement regarding an additional batch of S-400 surface-to-air missile systems. According to Ermenihaber, Dmitry Shugayev, head of Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, stated this in an interview with Interfax.
The Russian official noted that it is unlikely the new contract will be signed this year, and it is most likely to occur in 2021. Alexander Mikheev, head of Russia's Rosoboronexport company, also mentioned that negotiations are ongoing between the parties regarding financial matters.
It is worth recalling that the agreement on S-400s was signed between Turkey and Russia in 2017. The first batch was delivered to Turkey in July 2019. The Russia-Turkey deal has created a significant crisis in Turkish-American relations.
