Suspect in Shooting on Armenakyan Street Turns Himself in to Police

On August 18, investigators from the Central Police Department's Marash Division received information regarding gunshots fired at the intersection of Armenakyan and Garegin Hovsepyan streets. The Armenian Police announced this.

Operational and investigative groups, along with forensic experts, arrived at the scene. The Marash Division investigators quickly determined that a 25-year-old man had been transported by ambulance to University Hospital No. 1.

The on-site examination revealed bloodstains and shell casings, as well as the victim's 'Opel' vehicle on Heratsi Street. The investigators from both the Central Department and the Marash Division swiftly identified that the shots were fired from a gas pistol.

Shortly thereafter, the identity of the shooter was also disclosed. A 29-year-old resident of Avan was targeted, and measures to locate both him and the weapon commenced, alongside explanatory work being carried out by the investigative department of the Central Police.

As a result, the suspect turned himself in to the territorial investigative division, provided a confession, and surrendered a firearm without a serial number, which has been sent for forensic examination. The preliminary investigation into the criminal case is ongoing.
