According to SHAMSHYAN.com, on August 20, around 14:00, the police department in Ijevan received a report from the Ijevan Medical Center that five children were brought in with acute poisoning symptoms.
As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the operational group of the police department, headed by Chief Vardan Khachatryan, was dispatched to the hospital. The children are 6-year-old Nare G., 9-year-old Narek G., 4-year-old Artyom H., 1-year-old Mark A., and 2-year-old Nik A.
Based on information from G. Shamshyan, after receiving first aid at the Ijevan Medical Center, all the children were transferred by ambulance to the Muratsan Medical Center in Yerevan. All the children are grandchildren of 58-year-old Samvel H., who was arrested on August 18 on suspicion of assaulting his 6-year-old and 4-year-old grandsons.
The investigative materials related to the case have been forwarded to the Tavush regional investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee.
As previously reported, on August 18, around 16:20, the Ijevan Medical Center notified the police department of Ijevan that a child had been admitted with abdominal pain and an unspecified acute gastroenterocolitis injury. An operational group from the Ijevan police department, led by a senior inspector from the community police division, was sent to the hospital.
Police established that the injured child was 6-year-old Sergey H., a resident of one of the villages in the Tavush region. While doctors were attending to the child’s life, Ijevan police found out that Sergey H.'s grandfather, 58-year-old Samvel H., had beaten Sergey H. and 4-year-old Nairi G. with a stick, leading to Nairi G. being hospitalized shortly after.
