«Hraparak» newspaper writes: The government's decision to periodically extend the state of emergency has raised a wave of discontent even within the authorities. Many have realized that the prolongation of the regime is less about the coronavirus and more about pursuing political motives. As a result, not only those who criticize the government and the opposition are suffering, but also those within the government itself. The last extension was on August 12.

According to some reports, a heated discussion unfolded within the My Step faction before the special session of the National Assembly, with many expressing the opinion that it is possible to fight the pandemic without a state of emergency, and they themselves feel the consequences of the restrictions.

During the special session, MP Sasun Mikayelyan did not hide his dissatisfaction, making a speech about the limitation on the number of participants in family events: “The limitation of 40 people can be increased to 60. People are getting married, it's a wedding, there is food and drink; we are a specific people and by allowing 60 people, we can provide the opportunity for hundreds who have engaged but cannot hold their weddings. Or for the venues, which you say can only operate in open spaces; it gets cold in the evenings in the regions, and a 60-person wedding can be held in closed spaces, maintaining the distance between tables.”

Naturally, his proposal was ignored, and after Mikayelyan's speech, everyone actively discussed that the MP has personal reasons for his stance. For over a year, his daughter has been engaged to the deputy governor, and they have been unable to hold a wedding, while Mikayelyan, as a conservative traditionalist, does not want to send his daughter off without a wedding ceremony.”
