Another Protester Dies in Minsk After Being Injured During Brest Demonstration
43-year-old Genadi Shutov has died in a military hospital in Minsk after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head during the dispersal of a protest in Brest on August 11. This information has been reported by Shutov's relatives, according to Meduza.
Shutov's daughter stated that after the protest in Brest on August 11, the family was unable to locate Genadi for two days. Eventually, they discovered that he had first been taken to a hospital in Brest and later transferred by helicopter to the military hospital in Minsk.
It is noteworthy that on August 12, the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that live ammunition had been fired at protesters in Brest, resulting in one protester being injured. Later, the post was edited, and the word 'live' was removed.
With this latest incident, the death toll from the protests in Belarus has risen to three.
