57-Year-Old Man Arrested on Suspicion of Inflicting Serious Bodily Harm and Severe Physical Pain on Underage Grandchildren
From August 14 to 16, 2020, a 57-year-old resident of the Khashtarak community in the Tavush region is suspected of inflicting serious harm to the health of his 6-year-old grandson, born in 2014, by delivering numerous blows to various parts of the child's body with his hands, feet, and a stick, due to being disturbed by the child's presence. As a result, the child fell and hit his head on the leg of a sofa, sustaining multiple life-threatening injuries and was taken unconscious to the Arabkir Medical Center.
This information was reported by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia. Additionally, on August 14, 2020, on August 16, and during an unspecified period under investigation, the 57-year-old man allegedly inflicted numerous blows on the bodies of his two underage grandchildren, causing them severe physical pain and intense psychological suffering.
A criminal case has been initiated in the Tavush regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee under Article 112 (deliberate infliction of severe harm to health) and Article 119 (causing severe physical pain or severe mental suffering) of the RA Criminal Code. The three underage children have been recognized as victims, and a forensic examination has been appointed.
The 57-year-old man has been arrested and questioned. The investigation is ongoing.
