NSS Discovers Cases of Document Forgery by Officials
The National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia has uncovered sufficient evidence indicating that officials of the National Institute of Metrology, possessing organizational and administrative powers, misused their official positions between 2010 and 2018. In a coordinated operation with a group of individuals, they allegedly issued orders for 27 citizens for various positions with profit-driven motives.
Despite being fully aware of the employees' failure to attend work and fulfill their duties, they created and validated false "work time calculation information" and other documents necessary for salary payments. These documents contained false information regarding the employees' attendance and performance of their job responsibilities.
The documents were subsequently circulated, leading to payments from the state budget amounting to 59,062,904 AMD, which were embezzled for personal gain.
A criminal case has been initiated in the NSS Investigative Department under Article 179, Part 3, Clause 1, and Article 325, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Necessary investigative and procedural actions are being undertaken using legally permissible means to clarify all circumstances of the case, identify all persons involved in the crime, and recover the damages caused to the state.
