After all this, should anyone ask why ministers receive bonuses? They are right to do so, says Pashinyan
The construction activities taking place in various regions of Armenia demonstrate that bonuses given to ministers and governors are justified. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed this opinion during a live broadcast after his visit to Gegharkunik Province on August 17.
“When I saw the completed work, I asked myself whether anyone should question why our ministers and governors receive bonuses. Today, the answer to that question was practically voiced for me: they are right to receive them. This is my decision, it is the right decision; our government members deserve dignified compensation. This is also a matter of the people's honor, as it reflects how the employer treats his employees. The people of Armenia should be pleased that we have ministers who need these bonuses and are not engaged in theft,” mentioned Nikol Pashinyan.
According to Pashinyan, this also shows that the government's adopted approach to regional balanced development, the subvention program, is working. “I saw drainage systems that did not exist before, and now are being built. Street lighting that was absent in the past, kindergartens being constructed from scratch. Today's visit was about harvesting the fruits of the revolution since those promises we made at that time are now being fulfilled. A civilizational revolution is taking place in the villages; people who used to walk on dirt paths are now stepping out of their homes to see high-quality, asphalted roads. This gives me optimism to say that the Republic of Armenia is becoming a large construction site. The process has begun, and the promises made during the revolution are being concretely realized. We used to say during the revolution that we would become the ground beneath your feet; today, through this work, we are indeed becoming the ground beneath our people's feet so they can walk with greater confidence,” he stated.
