The State Revenue Committee Reveals Cases of Drug Importation via Postal Deliveries

The State Revenue Committee's anti-smuggling agency continues its fight against the illegal transfer of drugs and psychotropic substances across the borders of the Republic of Armenia. This information has been reported by the information and public relations department of the SRC.

Recently, the Anti-Smuggling Department received information that a delivery from Great Britain to Armenia possibly contained significant quantities of narcotics. This information was acted upon in collaboration with the staff of the Criminal Police Department of the Police.

As a result, after receiving the shipment, a citizen of Armenia was apprehended on Hrachya Kochar Street by the Anti-Smuggling Department. A personal search conducted on him revealed one fragmented and 46 whole pills of the substance known as "MDMA," featuring a skull image.

Similarly, another 19 pills were found in a different shipment imported from Great Britain, which was targeted based on analytical work performed by the law enforcement cooperation and information analysis department of the Anti-Smuggling Department.

In both cases, the materials have been transferred to the investigation and operational-intelligence department of the SRC in accordance with Article 267.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. An investigation is underway.

Notice: A person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law by a legally enforceable court verdict.
