Debauchery Between Village Mayor and Former Deputy Governor Leads to Criminal Case

In the Vayots Dzor region’s Verin Getashen community, a "debauchery" incident occurred involving current village mayor Tigran Muradyan and the businessman brother of a former mayor, Artush Ghukasyan. According to our information, the dispute arose over the toxic wastewater released by Ghukasyan's canned goods factory.

In an interview with "Hraparak", the mayor stated that he had received numerous complaints from villagers regarding the factory's sewage water. He had warned the owners about the issue, but they failed to address it: "The factory belongs to former Deputy Governor and Republican party member Artush Ghukasyan. We have warned him several times about complaints from community residents regarding the discharged water, which causes significant damage to crops. I have sent an official letter to the management requesting that the water not be discharged. Following that, they reported to the police that supposedly the community head was arbitrarily obstructing the factory’s operations, but this has nothing to do with reality. We offered them to install septic tanks, but that also has not been done."

The media source also elaborated on how the situation escalated into a physical confrontation: "On Sunday, we were patrolling the community streets and passed by that street. Artush Ghukasyan, his sons, the son of his brother, and a group of residents were also gathered there, demanding that the water be cut off. We approached them, and I warned the former deputy governor that he was committing an illegal act; he had no right to connect his sewage to the community’s river. I noticed their aggression, and to prevent it from escalating into unpleasant conversations or fights, I called the police to dispatch a unit to stop both the illegal act and prevent any unpleasant incidents. Before the police arrived, they had called their relatives, who came and started shouting insults and attacked me."
