Gunshots and Explosions Reported in South-Eastern Minsk; Many Injured

In the Serabrjanka microdistrict of Minsk, which is the epicenter of one of the unauthorized protests taking place this night, demonstrators are attempting to build barricades. This was reported by the Belarusian bureau of Radio Free Europe.

In addition, explosions and gunshots have been heard in Serabrjanka after midnight. According to Interfax, various Telegram channels report that a large number of OMON units, as well as ambulances, are moving towards the microdistrict. Social media reports indicate a significant number of injuries.

In the Kamennaya Gorka and Uruchye microdistricts, where protests were also held on Tuesday evening, security forces dispersed the demonstrators. Meanwhile, it is reported that several hundred protesters gathered for the third time near the Belarusian embassy in Moscow last night. Protests in Russia have proceeded without incidents.

It should be noted that residents of Belarus took to the streets after the presidential elections held on August 9, expressing their discontent with the results, which stated that the current president, Alexander Lukashenko, received over 80 percent of the votes.
