51-Year-Old Driver Hits Road Investigators and 6 Citizens After Mercedes and Lexus Crash
On August 11, an extraordinary incident occurred in the Kotayk region. Around 23:30, 51-year-old Sargis Shapaghatyan from Yerevan, driving a Ford Focus, collided with a Mercedes vehicle that had been parked at the crash site as a result of a previous accident in the village of Balakhovit.
According to shamshyan.com, S. Shapaghatyan then hit a 27-year-old investigator of the Road Police's 2nd Officer Battalion, Karlyen Baghuiyan, who was documenting the traffic accident. He also struck several individuals including 28-year-old Aram Poghosyan, 27-year-old Narek Melikyan, 28-year-old Khachatur Gabrielian, 45-year-old Eduard Thovmasyan, 39-year-old Artak Poghosyan from Abovyan, and 27-year-old Tigran Khachatryan from Nor Geghi village. All the injured persons were transported to the 'Abovyan' medical center with varying degrees of bodily injuries.
The photojournalist reports that prior to the hit-and-run incident, the Mercedes and Lexus vehicles were involved in a collision. Fortunately, there were no injuries from that accident.
