Journalists' Report: The Most Common Causes of Death in Armenia

The newspaper "Journalists" reports that cardiovascular and oncological diseases are the leading causes of death in Armenia. According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, 14,417 people died in the first half of this year.

The primary cause of death is circulatory system diseases, which accounted for 7,827 fatalities in the first six months of this year. Deaths from cardiovascular diseases increased by 607 in one year. Furthermore, according to data from the Statistical Committee, 1,461 people died from circulatory system diseases in January, 1,394 in February, and 1,428 in June.

In the “black list” of diseases, the second spot is taken by neoplasms, with 2,692 deaths reported in Armenia from January to June this year. A positive note is that this figure has decreased by 1.6 percent compared to the previous year.

Following respiratory diseases is another cause, with 1,380 deaths registered. Additionally, it's noteworthy that 270 people died from endocrine system diseases in the first six months of this year, a decrease from 295 deaths in the same period last year. Furthermore, accidents, poisonings, and injuries led to 421 deaths, representing a 15.3 percent decrease.
