11 People Killed in a Fire in the Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic, a fire in an apartment building has resulted in the deaths of 11 people. The blaze occurred in the city of Bohumín, which is located near the border with Poland. According to police, the fire was deliberately set. Among the victims were three children, as reported by Yahoo News.

Local fire department representative Lukas Pop stated that the fire broke out on the 11th floor of the apartment building. “Six people, including three children, died on that floor, and one dog also perished,” he added. “Our firefighters arrived on the scene very quickly, but during the action, five people jumped out of the 12th-floor window and were killed,” said Pop.

Regional fire office chief Vladimir Vlccek mentioned that he does not want to speculate on the causes of the fire at this time. “However, the fire spread very quickly, which is not normal. Such a fire usually damages one room, but it spread throughout the entire apartment, with all rooms having burned,” he stated. Vlccek further added that it is unclear why five residents jumped out when their apartments had not yet been affected by the fire.

Additionally, around 30 people were injured as a result of the fire, including two firefighters and one police officer.
