Brawl and Beating in Ejmiatsin: Among the Detained is the Mayor of Amberd
The investigative department of the Vagharshapat Division of the Police is preparing materials regarding a brawl that occurred in the Armavir province on August 7.
According to shamshyan.com, operational information was received at the Vagharshapat police that at around 4:00 PM that day, a conflict took place in a park on Mashtots street in Ejmiatsin city, involving residents of Amberd village: 58-year-old Manvel Babayan, 23-year-old Mayis Babayan, 40-year-old Vachagan Minasyan, 39-year-old Sargis Tchughuryan, and 23-year-old Gevorg Sedrakyan, as well as 22-year-old Aram Sedrakyan. During the incident, mutual insults and blows were exchanged.
On the same day, S. Tchughuryan and Manvel Babayan were apprehended on suspicion of causing bodily harm and were taken to the Vagharshapat police, where after providing explanations at the investigative department, they were subsequently released.
The Vagharshapat police are undertaking necessary operational-search measures to locate V. Minasyan and Mayis Babayan. A forensic examination has been ordered by the investigator. Police have information indicating that sticks and other tools were used during the fight.
According to G. Shamshyan's reports, among the participants of the altercation, Manvel Babayan is the leader of the Amberd community, while Mayis Babayan is his son.
